Urswick Bell Appeal -This project aims to refurbish 2 existing bells and purchase
a further 2 bells making a peal of 6 bells. Several fundraising projects are taking
place, the sales of souvenir China mugs of the Church and Urswick Tarn, oil paintings
by local award winning artist, Miss Maggie Turbitt, quizzes, confectionary items,
‘Cross in your pocket’ keepsakes made by Mrs Edna Hall. Recently, there has been
a fundraising Country & Western night which was very well attended and raised an
amazing £553.10 and the setting up of ‘The Spirit Draw’ this draw costs £10 for the
year with a number drawn at random every month and the winner then receives a gift
voucher or a bottle of spirits. If you would like to join the draws please contact

sought and donations have been received. The cost of restoration, the purchase of
new bells with accessories and necessary new steel frameworks are approximately £25,000.
To date all the many hours of labour undertaken has been done on a voluntary basis
under the expert guidance of our Bell Captain Mr Tom Metcalfe thus saving many hundreds
The Church Ceiling Project -This project aims to raise funds to refurbish the Church’s
ceiling at a cost in excess of £8.000. It is being worked towards by the selling
of souvenir Church tea towels, the proceeds from the monthly lunch club and other
The Parish Room Project -This refurbishment project aims to redecorate, build an
extension to provide storage, replacement of doors and general updating. The cost
of this work is expected to be approx £44,000. Funds are being raised by the proceeds
from the weekly ‘pop in’ coffee morning, receiving of grants and donations.
